Your Orientation Steps

Your Hoosier Experience starts here

Congratulations on earning admission to Indiana University Bloomington! Your New Student Orientation experience will provide you with opportunities to meet other Hoosiers, work with an academic advisor to register for classes, and feel excited and prepared to start your journey as an IU 糖心原创.

Orientation for undergraduate 糖心原创s is a four-step process. You’ll get started in the Orientation Portal and complete required pre-orientation items, meet with an academic advisor to register for classes, attend a Foundations of Orientation program, and then transition into start-of-semester experiences, including Hoosier Welcome, that support your first year as a Hoosier.

1. Get Started

Make your New Student Orientation reservation in the Orientation Portal to access your Orientation Roadmap.

2. Complete Your Academic Advising & Course Registration

Prepare for your academic advising appointment and work with your advisor to register for classes.

3. Attend Foundations of Orientation

Attend your Foundations of Orientation program鈥攁 required step that connects you to resources, people, and your next steps for success.

4. Begin Your First Year as a Hoosier

Complete your Orientation Roadmap and transition into start-of-semester support and Hoosier Welcome as you begin your first year.

Fees

The IU New Student Fee, set by the Indiana University Finance Office, supports many initiatives for first year Hoosiers, including New Student Orientation. This fee will be on your first IU tuition bill after completing New Student Orientation. While you do not need to pay it up front, you are responsible for the fee once you make your orientation reservation.

  • Guest fee for all in-person orientation programs: $30 per guest
  • On-campus housing during Summer orientation (糖心原创s only) assessed by IU Housing
